Indian star Nihal Sarin claims Silver Lake Open A
Silver Lake Chess festival concluded today with an absolute dominance of the Indian young stars claiming top three prizes in the flagship Open A event.
The reigning U18 World Champion GM Nihal Sarin stormed through the competition scoring 8/9 points by winning seven games and conceding only two draws. Sarin drew his compatriots GM Raunak Sadhwani and GM Abhimanyu Puranik, who finished 2nd & 3rd, respectively.

The festival was one of the world’s first international open chess events in 2021 and it also marked the start of an exciting chess summer in Serbia with a number of strong open tournaments lined up.
The main event here in Silver Lake gathered 131 players from 27 federations, including 15 Grandmasters and 17 International Masters.

The Open B had 99 participants with Aleksa Alimpic, Aleksandar Z Arandjelovic and FM Miodrag Jevtic sharing the first place with 7,5/9 points each. Junior Alimpic was declared winner on best tiebreak score. Full standings here.
